The Black population of this planet deserves an apology for slavery. But who should give this apology? Nobody alive today in Georgia, Bristol or Paris has ever owned a slave, least of all shipped thousands of them over to the West Indies to grow sugar. This is a sorry state of affairs. So, I hope, that in my own special way, I can give the Black population an apology. But first, I need to earn the guilt to make this apology heart-felt.

The greatest invention of the twentieth-century is not the television. Not the internet. Not even organ transplants. It's the nuclear bomb, and like it or not, it's here to stay. No state would drop a nuke on another (with two obvious exceptions), and this is the stock argument by most of those campaigning against the renwal of Trident. Once again, a complete lack of understanding about how war works.
